All village committees in Chinakuri protest with a memorandum to a private coal company, demanding work and development for locals

Asansol, Kulti: The village committee of the Chinakuri area under Kulti police station has submitted a memorandum to a private coal company operating under Chinakuri 3 number colliery with multiple demands. The program was organized around 2 pm on Tuesday. The committee members handed over the memorandum to the company authorities and raised the issue of employment of local residents, overall development of the area, and ensuring fair wages for the working laborers. It has been stated on behalf of the village committee that local residents should be given priority in various jobs in the colliery area. Along with this, demands have also been made for the necessary infrastructural development of the area, including roads, drinking water, and lighting. Apart from this, demands have been made to provide correct and fixed wages to the currently working laborers and to take necessary steps to protect the interests of the laborers. The committee members claimed that there has been dissatisfaction among the locals about these issues for a long time. So, a memorandum has been submitted to the company for the greater interest of the people and the interest of the laborers. According to sources, after discussing with the representatives of the private company's management, they have assured to look into the demands and have sought 15 days to take action on the matter. Meanwhile, the members of the village committee have stated that if positive initiatives are not taken regarding the demands within the stipulated time, the possibility of taking a larger movement in the coming days will be considered.
