On Friday afternoon, a huge quantity of illegal liquor was recovered during a search at Roopnarayanpur police station point on the West Bengal-Jharkhand border. Police arrested a trafficker in the incident. According to police sources, based on secret information, it is known that liquor is being smuggled in Jharkhand in a passenger bus. Accordingly, surveillance has been increased at the police point under Salanpur police station. On Friday afternoon, when a suspicious bus was stopped and searched, a few boxes of liquor bottles of different famous brands were recovered from inside the bus. A person named Shafiq Shaikh was arrested from the spot. During preliminary interrogation, the arrested person said that liquor bottles were being collected from the barracks and were being taken to Dumkaya in Jharkhand. Unable to show any valid documents, the police arrested him along with the liquor. Since the immediate announcement of elections, police checking has been tightened at the inter-state border. Due to this action of the police, there is panic in the areas where the traffickers have been trapped. Roopnarayanpur police are investigating whether anyone else is involved in this cycle.
