There is a long standing tussle between the Election Commission and West Bengal's ruling party Trinamool Congress on the SIR issue. In this situation, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is going to sit in an important meeting at the Election Commission office in Delhi on Monday. By meeting Chief Election Commissioner Nyanesh Kumar, he will present his clear position on SIR. It is noteworthy that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had earlier sent six separate letters to the Chief Election Commissioner raising objections regarding SIR. But this time he wants to present his views before the Election Commission, not through a letter, but through direct discussion - this is the concept of a political party. All India General Secretary of Trinamool Congress Abhishek Banerjee will be present in this meeting along with the Chief Minister. Besides, the family members of those who lost their lives in SIR related incidents will also accompany the Chief Minister to the Election Commission. This is being seen as a strong political and humanitarian message from the Trinamool Congress. The Chief Minister reached Delhi on Sunday. There has been a lot of speculation in the political circles around this meeting on Monday. According to many, this meeting may show a new direction in the SIR debate and may also have an impact on Centre-State relations. Trinamool Congress alleges that administrative interference is being increased in the name of SIR, due to which the rights of common people and the democratic system are being damaged. However, till now no detailed public response has been received from the Election Commission regarding these allegations. Now look towards Monday's meeting - whether any new decision or direction emerges on the SIR issue after the discussion between Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
