BJP candidate filled nomination papers on first day of nomination, announced election campaign on development issues

On the very first day of the nomination process under the West Bengal Assembly Elections 2026, BJP candidate from Asansol North Assembly seat Krishnendu Mukherjee reached the SDO office on Monday and filed his nomination papers. No noise or sloganeering was seen during the nomination. Only two security personnel and two supporters were present with him.
After filing the nomination, Krishnandu Mukherjee said that he believes in Sanatan traditions and as per his religious faith, he has filed the nomination considering this day as auspicious. He said that this decision was taken after discussion with the party leadership.
He further said that from April 1, he will start actively campaigning in the area along with his supporters. According to him, this time his election campaign will focus on development issues. Along with this, he will also put before the public the shortcomings and alleged corruption of the last 15 years of the Trinamool Congress government's tenure.
Krishnendu Mukherjee talked about including many important issues including women's safety, condition of health services, education system in his election agenda.
