ED raids mining area again, marathon search at the house of Congress leader and businessman in Andal
Andal: The mining area of the Asansol-Durgapur industrial belt once again became heated due to the activity of the central investigative agency. On Wednesday morning, senior officials of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) raided the house of a local Congress leader and influential businessman named Dilip Turi in the CL Jambad area of Andal. According to local sources, as Wednesday morning set in, a team of central intelligence officers arrived in Andal in multiple luxury vehicles. They were accompanied by well-equipped personnel of the central paramilitary force, or CRPF, and the local police administration. Such a sudden raid early in the morning created widespread sensation and tension throughout the area.
According to information received from local sources, Dilip Turi is not only a local political figure, but he is also closely associated with a voluntary organization or NGO. However, his main business is primarily colliery-centric. It is learned that his business expanded through securing tenders for supplying various four-wheeler vehicles, including ambulances, to various collieries and open-cast mines of Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL). According to preliminary information, he used to bring ambulances and other commercial vehicles from the state of Jharkhand and provide services in various operational areas of ECL through tenders. Such transport businesses and tender syndicates in the mining area have been under the scanner of various quarters for a long time.
However, no official or clear explanation has been provided by the investigative agency so far regarding the specific case investigation or corruption allegations upon which this marathon ED operation is based. Consequently, intense political and non-political speculation has started in the mining area regarding the actual motive behind the operation. Investigators are examining whether there is any connection to coal smuggling or any other financial irregularities in the mining area.
As the investigative team suddenly arrived at the specific address early in the morning with several large vehicles and security personnel, local residents woke up and their curiosity was piqued.
