, Padhasia, West Bengal: MDOD project Incline, located in Padhasia area under ICL region, has been completely stopped for five consecutive days due to various demands. Production has practically come to a standstill due to the workers' movement. Allegedly, about 100 workers have been transferred from the parent organization to the contractor organization. Apart from this, there is intense anger among the workers in protest against not giving the promised job in exchange of land, not making arrangements for proper rehabilitation and retrenchment in the organization. Ongoing workers, retrenched workers and local residents have come together to protest against the management. Many youth of Belbad and Padhasia areas also joined this protest and expressed their support. It is reported that due to the agitation, all the works of MD & Incline have been stopped for the last five days. The demands of the agitating workers are that they will have to be reinstated to work in their previous organization and will be given the promised jobs in exchange of land. Regarding rehabilitation, many people said that although rehabilitation was promised at the beginning of the project, it has not been implemented yet. On the other hand, 35 workers complained that they were asked to take some training but were not given the same training. Later he was removed from his job. Their claim is that outside workers are being appointed in their place. The workers are worried that if immediate arrangements are not made regarding their demands, the movement will assume a larger size in the coming days. But no official response has been received from the organization on this matter yet.
