Fearless Bengali: Political heat is increasing in Durgapur centering on election campaign. Soumitra Khan launched a strong attack on Trinamool Congress while campaigning from BJP's party office adjacent to Kshudiram Ground. He made a controversial comment at the meeting saying, “Keep hot water and a stick near your house to chase away the thief.” Also, on the day of voting, he made a suggestive comment saying 'use the stick' while voting on the IVM. His demand is that to overthrow Trinamool, common people will have to vote unitedly. In his speech today, he further said, due to lack of employment in the state, many young men and women are forced to work in other states. However, referring to the Central Government's initiative to develop Durgapur as an industrial corridor, he claims that this will open up new vistas of employment in the future and it will be possible to bring back migrant workers. Attacking the Trinamool candidate from Durgapur West Assembly Centre, he said, “By voting for such candidates, there will be no improvement for the common people, rather only a few will benefit.” A political battle has started around such intense statements before the elections.
