On Thursday, a tense situation was created due to an altercation between Trinamool Congress and BJP workers-supporters in the presence of the Durgapur Mahakuma Governor. It is learned that Chandrashekhar Bandyopadhyay, the BJP candidate from Durgapur East Center, rushed to the office with his supporters to submit his nomination. Before that, Trinamool candidate from the same center Pradeep Majumdar, Durgapur West candidate Kabi Dutt and Rani Ganj candidate Kalo Baran Mandal submitted their nominations. At this time, Trinamool workers started raising the slogan ‘জয় বাংলা’, whereas BJP workers-supporters started raising the slogan ‘জয় শীরিরাম’. The discussion between the two parties quickly turns tense and the situation becomes increasingly tense. A large police force of Durgapur police station reached the spot to bring the situation under control. Allegation, the police officer who was in charge at that time was pushed away by a BJP worker - Samarthkara. After some tension, the situation came under control due to police intervention. The incident has spread panic in the area. In this regard, BJP candidate Chandrashekhar Bandyopa Dhyay alleged, "The police is working on behalf of the TMC. First they should be allowed to submit their nominations, then they will be given answers."
