Nirbhik Bangla, Durgapur: Young Indian shooter Abhinav Shaw returned to the country after winning a gold medal at the ISSF Junior World Championship 2026 held in Suhl, Germany. He was given a warm welcome at Durgapur Airport on Sunday.
A large number of supporters and well-wishers were present at the airport to welcome Abhinav. He was felicitated with a flower garland, sweets, and applause. Everyone present was ecstatic about his success in making the country and West Bengal proud on the international stage.
Abhinav Shaw and Shambhavi Kheersagar won the gold medal in the 10m Air Rifle Mixed Team event. They qualified for the final with 634.6 points in the qualification round and created a new junior world record with 505.8 points in the final, winning not only the gold medal but also setting a new record.
West Bengal Sports Minister Indranil Khan called Abhinav to congratulate him on this achievement. He said that Abhinav's achievement is a matter of pride for the entire state and country, and he wished him success in his future endeavors.
Abhinav Shaw's historic achievement is being considered a significant milestone for Indian shooting. His achievement has further enhanced the reputation of India and West Bengal in the international sports arena.
