Fearless Bengali, Durgapur, 8 June: Tension spread in a private hospital adjacent to Shobhapur in Durgāpur over the allegation of not discharging a patient from the hospital. In this incident that took place on Sunday night, allegations of vandalism in various parts of the hospital have been raised against the relatives of the patient and a section of the local people. To bring the situation under control, a huge police force as well as central army personnel were deployed at the spot. According to local sources, about 15 days ago, a resident of Amaravati Colony, adjacent to Vambe Colony of Durgapur, got seriously injured in an accident and was admitted to the hospital. Despite complaints from family members and repeated requests for discharge from the hospital despite improvement in the patient's physical condition, the hospital authorities did not respond to it. Focusing on this allegation, relatives of the patients went to the hospital and started protesting on Sunday night. During the alleged protest, the situation became heated and widespread vandalism took place in various parts of the hospital. It is reported that there has been damage to the furniture and other equipment of the hospital. Police immediately reached the spot after receiving information about the incident. Additional police forces were deployed to bring the situation under control. Central army personnel are also named to maintain law and order. Later, the police conducted an operation and arrested several persons for their involvement in the incident, according to sources. Meanwhile, CCTV footage of the hospital has surfaced after the incident. Some scenes of vandalism have been captured in that footage, claims the hospital authorities. Police have already collected that footage and started investigation. The real cause of the incident, who is involved in the vandalism and the veracity of the allegations against the hospital authorities are being investigated, police sources said. In the interest of investigation, all aspects of the incident are being looked into.
