Nirbheek Bengali, Durgapur: The workers and supporters of SUCI organized a protest program in the uninhabited areas of Durgapur today in demand of canceling the anti-people budget 2026 of the Central and State Government and in protest against the harassment of common people in the name of SIR. Protesters allege that thousands of common people are being subjected to unnecessary harassment in the name of SIR hearing. They claim that through this process, there is a danger that the names of many legitimate citizens will be left out of the voter list. SUCI(সি)-প্শিম ব্ধামন district committee member Somnath ব্দ্যোপা ধয়য় said, “The budget of the Central and State Governments is completely directionless. There is no direction of employment in this budget. None of the legitimate demands of the farmers and workers have been fulfilled. Also, no legal citizen in the name of SIR will be excluded from the voter list.” The protesters demanded withdrawal of the budget 2026 and immediate stopping of the SIR process. They warned that if their demands are not met, the movement will be strengthened in the coming days.
