Fearless Bengali, Durgapur: A political controversy has arisen around the toilet of Durgāpur Municipal Corporation, a community adjacent to Gopalmāth bus stand and Gopalmāth market of ward number 35 of Durgapur. On Sunday morning, BJP workers reached there and broke the lock of the locked shop and opened it for the use of general public. After this, party workers are also seen doing the work of cleaning toilets with brooms. BJP alleges that the community brothel built on government funds was lying locked for a long time. As a result the common people of the area were deprived of its benefits. The party claims that due to being under the control of the local Trinamool leadership, the fraud was beyond the reach of common people. On this day, BJP's district youth wing co-president Suman Goop broke the lock with a hammer and opened the door of the shop, according to party sources. Later he and other BJP workers took part in cleanliness drive. BJP's further allegation is that a children's garden located next to the toilet was out of use for the general public for a long time. That garden will also be opened for children on Sunday, claimed BJP. But no immediate response was received from Trinamool Congress or Durgapur Municipal Corporation regarding this allegation. The incident has triggered political turmoil in the area. According to a section of local residents, the administration should look at the issue of regularization and maintenance of services built for the public with utmost importance.
