Asansol: Intense sensation spread in Benali village under Jamuria police station following the recovery of a decomposed dead body of a man from a pond early in the morning. According to police sources, the deceased was named Madhu Hemrom. He was a permanent resident of Benali Twila Para. On Saturday morning, his body was seen floating in the local Ghasuria pond, causing a stir in the area.
According to locals and family sources, on the morning of the 18th, Madhu Hemrom had gone out near his house to pluck water lilies. However, when he did not return home even after a long time, family members grew anxious. Searches were conducted overnight and on the following days at relatives' houses and all possible locations, but he was not found. Naturally, the entire family was worried about this incident.
This morning, some local residents went to work near the pond named 'Ghasuria' adjacent to the colliery in Benali village. At that time, they saw a body floating on the water. Out of curiosity, when they went closer, they recognized the body as that of the missing Madhu Hemrom. As this news spread instantly, a large crowd gathered on the banks of the pond.
Information about the incident was given to the Sripur outposts police. Upon receiving the news, the officials of the Sripur outpost quickly arrived at the spot. Later, with the cooperation of local residents, the body was retrieved from the pond and a preliminary inquest report was prepared. Afterward, the body was sent to Asansol District Hospital for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
Strong speculation has started in the area whether he accidentally drowned while plucking water lilies or if there is some other mystery or criminal conspiracy behind it. The Sripur outpost police stated that the actual cause of death will be clear only after the autopsy report arrives.
