From ambulance driver straight to ISRO, Debojit of Nadia takes a flight of dreams with indomitable grit
Defying a mountain of adversities, poverty, and hardships, Debojit Bhadra, a young man from a remote area of Gangnapur in Nadia district, has set a unique example by securing a job at the country's premier space research organization, ISRO. This inspiring turnaround, akin to finding a ray of hope amidst darkness, has created quite a stir in the locality. Recently, he received his appointment letter for the post of 'Technician B' at the famous Satish Dhawan Space Centre located in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh. Debojit, who worked as a government ambulance driver at Shaktinagar District Hospital, has made not only his family but the entire Nadia district and the people of the state proud with this unbelievable and extraordinary success.
According to family sources, Debojit, born into a very humble family, had to struggle right from his childhood. Extreme financial crisis was a constant companion. When the family struggled to arrange even two square meals a day, dreaming of higher education or big aspirations was a luxury. Yet, amidst extreme poverty, Debojit's passion for studies never diminished. After completing his Secondary and Higher Secondary education, he passed ITI. It was around this time that the historic success of India's ambitious Chandrayaan mission shook the entire nation. That success planted the seeds of a far-reaching dream in young Debojit's mind. He earnestly resolved to be associated with the country's space research.
However, dreaming was as easy as its implementation was difficult. Urged by livelihood needs, he had to take up the job of an ambulance driver at Shaktinagar District Hospital. But life does not stop. Even after handling grueling and risky 12-hour ambulance driving shifts at the hospital, his struggle did not stop. Debojit continued studying during the free time in the duty room, in the silence of the night, or late into the night after returning home. The path was arduous. To reach his desired goal, he had to face failure in various competitive exams about five to six times. Every time failure struck, he did not break down; instead, correcting his mistakes, he plunged back with double enthusiasm. Armed with the healthy competition among friends and an indomitable grit within his heart, he finally saw the face of desired success. According to Debojit, his biggest strength on this rigorous journey was God's blessings, the tireless support of his parents, and the constant encouragement of his friends.
A wave of joy is now flowing through Debojit's family over his historic success. His emotional father stated that progress in life at every step depends on a person's actions and destiny, which his son has proven today through his own hard work. On the other hand, while reminiscing about the difficult days of past struggles, tears welled up in the eyes of his mother, Chhaya Bhadra. She shared that despite acute financial hardship, she never kept her son away from studies; rather, amidst all odds, she always provided him with courage and reassurance. Meanwhile, his wife, Priyanka Bhadra, is extremely proud of her husband's far-reaching success. She shared that their marriage stemmed from a relationship of mutual love. Right from the beginning, she had full faith in her husband's hard work, honesty, and merit, believing that this struggle would succeed one day and he would achieve great honor.
Debojit's soaring success has proven today that where there is willpower, one can reach the peak overcoming a hundred adversities. His triumphant journey has not only changed the destiny of a single family but has also provided a unique inspiration for the young generation of Bengal to dream anew and turn those dreams into reality.
