Kalyaneshwari outpost police achieved a major breakthrough in the sensational and fatal attack on the driver of a moving minibus on the Dendua-Kalyaneshwari road. Within a few months of the incident and based on viral CCTV footage, the Asansol-Durgapur Police Commissionerate arrested a identified miscreant. The arrested youth has been identified as Ashik Ruidas (23). He is reportedly a resident of Ruidas Para in Jemari Hattala under the local Salanpur block.
According to the incident details, a few days ago, a group of armed miscreants forcibly stopped a passenger-filled moving minibus near the Dendua Hospital on the Dendua-Kalyaneshwari road. It is alleged that before anyone could understand what was happening, the miscreants broke the door of the minibus, attacked the driver, and beat him mercilessly. The intensity of the beating was so severe that the driver was critically injured and fell unconscious inside the bus. This sudden attack also caused extreme panic among the passengers.
Upon receiving news of the incident, the Kalyaneshwari outpost police rushed to the spot immediately. They rescued the seriously injured driver and arranged for him to be taken to a local hospital for treatment. Following this incident, extreme anger erupted among the transport workers of the area, and demands were raised for the prompt arrest of the miscreants.
Recently, CCTV footage of this brutal beating went viral on social media. As soon as the video came to their attention, the police administration sprang into action. Under the direction of the Asansol-Durgapur Police Commissionerate, work began in full swing to examine the footage and identify the pictures and identities of the accused. Acting on a tip-off from a source, the police surrounded and arrested one of the main accused, Ashik Ruidas, from the vicinity of a factory in the Dendua area this morning.
The arrested accused was produced in the Asansol Sub-Divisional Court today. The police have applied to take him into their custody for the sake of the investigation. Police preliminarily suspect that this planned attack was carried out due to some old rivalry or argument. The remaining accused involved in the incident are currently absconding from the area. The police have assured that searches are being conducted in all possible dens to find the remaining miscreants and they will be brought to justice very soon.
