Nirbhik Bengali, Asansol, West Bengal: After the release of the final voter list, the name of Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI) led to controversy over the names of voters marked 'Under Adjudication'. On Saturday evening at 6:30 pm, a street meeting was organized under the initiative of Niamatpur 1st Number Local Area Committee. Party leadership claims that despite the names of many voters being in the final voter list, they have been marked as 'Under Adjudication'. As a result, thousands of voters are left virtually uncertain. This protest meeting was organized in protest against the allegations of exclusion of a large number of voters through the SIR process. Niyamatpur local committee editor Deo Anand Prasad was present at the meeting. Also speaking were CPM leaders Jahangir Alam, Jaffad Ansari, Ashok Shao and other leaders. Speakers complain that this process of voter registration is undermining democratic rights and creating uncertainty about the voting rights of common people. The demand for quick and transparent resolution of the issue and restoration of names of genuine voters was conveyed to the meeting. Political turmoil is created in the area around this day's gathering.
