Asansol: The countdown for Sharodutsav has already begun in the industrial hub of Asansol. Taking the festive mood a step further and carrying forward a glorious tradition and dedication of 69 years, Asansol's heritage Sripalli Sri Sangha Club has once again started preparations for a grand Durga Puja. On a relaxed Sunday, the auspicious 'Khuti Puja' ceremony for the upcoming Durga Puja was held with much pomp and grandeur at the club premises, adhering to all scriptural rituals.
Present at this holy occasion, Asansol North MLA Krishnendu Mukherjee inaugurated the Khuti Puja amidst the beating of dhak (traditional drums) and chanting of mantras. In the presence of the puja committee officials and senior members, the formal work for the upcoming Sharodutsav was initiated by strictly following religious customs. A massive gathering of local residents was witnessed at the club premises since Sunday morning revolving around the Khuti Puja.
There has always been a distinct emotion and enthusiasm among the residents of Sripalli and the entire Asansol regarding this 69-year-old ancient and esteemed puja. Although the style of organizing the puja has changed over time, the core spirit of universality of Sripalli Sri Sangha remains unchanged to this day. The puja committee has informed that, like every year, plans have been made to bring special surprises in everything from pandal decoration to idol making this year, with the active participation and overall cooperation of the local people. Special arrangements are being made to manage the crowd of visitors and ensure security at the pandal.
During the four days of the puja, not only pandal hopping, but various cultural programs will also be organized for the entertainment of visitors and local residents. Additionally, as part of the club's social responsibility, outlines for various philanthropic activities such as distribution of clothes, blood donation camps, and distribution of food among the needy have also been prepared.
MLA Krishnendu Mukherjee, the inaugurator of the auspicious Khuti Puja, praised the long journey of the puja committee and extended his love and best wishes to the organizers and the area's residents. Other officials of the club, senior and junior members of the puja committee, and prominent figures of the locality were present at the event. With the successful completion of the Khuti Puja, the pre-autumnal festive tune seemed to spread across the sky and breeze of the industrial town.
