Coming out in the election campaign on Wednesday, he claimed that due to the lifting of excess sand from the river, the water holding capacity has reduced and there is a shortage of drinking water in the industrial areas. Citing his experience of visiting the river Darbardanga Ghat, he said, “Although there is a huge sand dump outside the river, there is no sand in the river bed, rather soil has come out.” As a result, the natural water holding capacity of the river has reduced, which is directly impacting the water supply system of the area, he alleged. Congress candidate claims, in this situation, on one hand the drinking water crisis is becoming acute, on the other hand, farmers are not getting the required water for irrigation of agricultural lands. As a result, many agricultural people are facing extreme problems. In the campaign of this day, Indian National Congress candidates went door-to-door in the areas of Jamudiyar Bogra village, Nichu Dhaura, New Satgram, Modern Satgram, Jabāpur and Nichu, Malti Pada and Mollar Pada. He said that there is a huge response from the people and common people are voting in favor of change. At the end of the campaign, he further said, there are problems of drinking water, electricity and unemployment in the concerned areas for a long time. Keeping all these issues in mind, he is entering the fight for votes. He also complained that the plans of former Chief Minister Bidhan Chandra Roy have been ruined today due to the policies of the present government.
