Nirbhik Bengali, Asansol, West Bengal: Indian National Congress organized a unique protest program in Asansol in protest against the rising price of cooking gas. This program is organized at BNR intersection near Rabindra Bhavan Asansol of the city. This protest rally was organized against the central government under the initiative of West Bengal District Congress leadership and Mahila Congress. In protest, a pot is made symbolic of a gas cylinder and a stove is lit in front of it and Khichuri is cooked in it. Congress leaders claim that the price of cooking gas has increased so much that it is becoming difficult for common people to cook with gas, as a result many are forced to rely on stoves again. In this program, Congress leader Shilohta Banerjee took a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said that as a result of the government's policy, common people are facing extreme problems. Starting from cooking gas to daily essential food items, the prices of everything are increasing rapidly, as a result of which it has become difficult for people to run their families. He further said that the government once promised “good days” but now the common man is struggling with inflation and unemployment. Congress leader Prasanjith Pathundi alleged that due to various policies of the Central Government in the last 12 years, common people have faced various problems. Referring to demonetization and increase in the price of cooking gas, he said, the recent increase in the price of cylinder by Rs 60 has directly affected the pockets of common people. The central government should give a clear answer to the important issues like demands of Congress leadership, currency inflation and unemployment.
