Congress's unique demonstration against expensive gas cylinders, decorated the bier and cooked khichdi on the stove.

Asansol, West Bengal Congress held a unique demonstration against the rising prices of gas cylinders at BNR turn at Ravindra Bhawan in Asansol. West Bardhaman District Congress leadership and Mahila Congress jointly protested against the Central Government by decorating a symbolic bier of gas cylinders. During the demonstration, a stove was lit right in front of the bier and khichdi was cooked on it. Congress leaders said that due to the ever increasing prices of cooking gas, it is becoming difficult for common people to cook food on gas, hence they have to resort to stove again. On this occasion, Congress leader Silota Banerjee targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said that the common people of the country are troubled due to the policies of the government. He alleged that the prices of everything from cooking gas to food items are increasing rapidly, due to which it has become difficult for people to run their household. He also said that the government had promised 'Acche Din', but in the current situation the common people are struggling with inflation and unemployment. Meanwhile, Congress leader Prasanjit Poitundi said that in the last 12 years, due to the policies of the Central Government, the common people have had to face many problems. Referring to demonetization and increase in the prices of gas cylinders, he said that the recent increase of Rs 60 in cylinder prices has had a direct impact on the pockets of common people. Congress leaders alleged that many of the government's claims have also not been successful at the ground level. He said that the government should answer on issues like inflation and unemployment.
