Asansol: To commemorate the success of delivering the benefits of the Annapurna Yojana to the common people amidst the backdrop of central and state politics, an unprecedented 'Annapurna Abhinandan Yatra' was organized in Asansol. This colorful procession was jointly organized by the Mahila Morcha of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and local women of the Asansol North assembly constituency. The yatra began on Friday morning from Girja More, one of the main focal points of Asansol, where hundreds of ordinary women from various parts of the city participated.
Since its auspicious inauguration, the procession traversed the main thoroughfares of the city. The participating women held well-decorated placards, banners, and various awareness slogans written in support of the Annapurna Yojana. The women present raised their voices in gratitude towards the well-thought-out leadership and initiative of the Leader of the Opposition in the state, Suvendu Adhikari. They praised the importance of this scheme in ensuring the right to food in families and in the realm of social security.
Several common women participating in the procession stated that in the current economic situation, this scheme has become a very big support in providing daily household rice and lentils and ensuring food security. This benefit is particularly comforting for women from lower-income and marginalized families. To celebrate the joy of this achievement and to express respect and gratitude to the leadership, they spontaneously joined this felicitation march without any party constraints.
Along with ordinary women, BJP leaders of the Asansol North assembly area and representatives in charge of the Mahila Morcha were present in this felicitation yatra. The entire event was conducted in a very disciplined and festive atmosphere. Local intellectuals believe that the success of this program in Asansol will add a new dimension to the social and political participation of women power in the coming days.
