Jamuriya: Police arrested two youths on charges of extorting legitimate coal businessmen by threatening them with firearms. Police sources said that a pistol, a large quantity of cartridges and a car were recovered from the accused. According to police sources, the deceased's name is Munna Singh (৩১), father Janish Singh, house Shankarpur Colliery, police station Andal and Vijay Singh (৩৮), father is Ramesh Singh, house Gaighata Haripur, police station Andal, district West Vandaman. It is learned that for the past few days, complaints have been coming to the police that in the dark of night, some miscreants are extorting huge sums of money from various legitimate coal depots and depots of Eastern Coalfields Limited, i.e., car drivers and traders at gunpoint. Based on the complaint, Kendra Police, after receiving information from a secret source, conducted an operation late on Wednesday night. Two accused were arrested along with weapons and vehicle during the operation. Police claimed that a pistol, a large quantity of cartridges and an empty magazine were recovered from the accused. Police sources further informed that the accused were taken to Asansol court on Thursday morning. It is learned that who else is involved in the incident and the main leaders of the racketeering ring will be found and an application will be made to seek police custody of those arrested.
