A gold trader sustained serious injuries in the attack by miscreants in Amjhradha area under South 24 Parganar Vasanthi police station. The name of the injured is Karthik Naskar. This tragic attack took place on Friday night after closing the shop and returning home. There was widespread excitement in the area around the incident.
It is learned from family and local sources that, like every day, Karthik Naskar closed his gold shop and rode his motorbike home. Before reaching Aamjhara area, two miscreants aimed at him and opened fire from behind him. The bullet hits his back. Despite being seriously injured, he continued to ride the bike for about half a kilometre. Later he reached in front of a local shop and fell unconscious.
Local residents rescued him and took him to Canning Mahkuma Hospital. Although first aid was started there, the doctors said that the hospital did not have adequate facilities to remove the cyst. Due to his deteriorating physical condition, he was quickly transferred to Chittaranjan National Medical College and Hospital, Kolkata. Presently he is undergoing treatment there, family sources said.
After receiving the news of the incident, the police of Basanti police station and IC of the police station Abhijee Pal reached the hospital. Immediately the investigation begins. Additional police forces have been deployed in the area. Canning Mahkumar SDPO Ramkumar Mandal told,
“The incident is being watched with utmost importance. Whether it is an attack for the sake of destruction or an old enmity – all aspects are being looked into. CCTV footage has been collected from all sides.”
Dilip Naskar, brother of the injured, said,
“Like every day, uncle was returning home after closing his shop. Suddenly shots were fired targeting him. We think this attack was aimed at robbery.”
Initial estimates of the police also indicate that there may be a robbery attempt. But nothing can be said with certainty until the investigation is completed. The residents of the area are in panic due to this incident.Lifestyle
