Durgapur: On Sunday morning, there was excitement in the Subhashpalli area of New Township police station of ward no. Allegedly, illegal drug trade was going on openly in the area for a long time, due to which the local residents were facing various problems. According to the local people, after the evening, the number of anti-social people increases in the area and due to alcohol riots, women especially face problems. Apart from this, a section of the youth community alleged that they are being misled due to the free sale of liquor. Despite complaints regarding this matter being lodged several times, no effective measures were taken, claim the residents. In this situation, BJP's District OBC Morchar Editor Swatantra Rai along with party workers reached the area and visited some places where there were complaints. BJP workers claim that Bengali liquor was stored illegally in many houses there. Later, the concerned people are alerted and the matter is informed that the matter will be brought to the notice of the police administration. Speaking from the spot, Rai said that their protest against illegal liquor trade will continue and a demand will be made to the administration for taking action as per law. But no response was received from the administration or the accused in this incident.
