Shyam Das, Asansol: A controversy has erupted within the BJP itself over the inauguration of a new party office in Birkuli village of Jamuria. On Sunday evening around 6 PM, a ceremony was held to inaugurate a new BJP party office in Birkuli village. Allegations have surfaced that there is another party office of the Jamuria Mandal-1 Shakti Kendra Promukh just about 200 meters away from the new office. This issue led to objections and tensions surrounding the inauguration of the new office.
BJP worker Aditya Nath Mukherjee alleged that when MLA Bijan Mukherjee arrived in Birkuli village, Jamuria Mandal-1 president Pinaki Roy and Shakti Kendra Promukh Debkumar Mukherjee alias Bappa and his followers chanted 'Go Back' slogans targeting the MLA and asked him to leave the area.
Aditya Nath Mukherjee further alleged that he was assaulted in the darkness of the night amidst the crowd.
However, Jamuria BJP Mandal-1 Shakti Kendra Promukh Debkumar Mukherjee has completely denied these allegations. He claimed that all accusations against him are false. He said, 'If any such incident has occurred, let the complainant file a written complaint at the police station.'
Meanwhile, several attempts were made to contact MLA Bijan Mukherjee for his reaction to the incident, but he could not be reached.
The incident has sparked political infighting within the Jamuria BJP.
