Tension prevailed in Lalbangla area of Asansol North police station area when BJP workers who were filling the Matrishakti form were allegedly attacked by Trinamool Congress (TMC) workers. According to BJP, 20 to 22 people under the leadership of Trinamool councilor Shyam Soren of Ward No. 15 suddenly attacked with sticks and kicks.

In this incident, BJP worker Tej Pratap Singh was assaulted, while a woman worker Rakhi Hansda has also been accused of misbehavior and tearing her clothes. The attackers also threatened to face dire consequences if he allegedly promoted the BJP.
As soon as information about the incident was received, BJP candidate from Asansol North Assembly Krishnendu Mukherjee reached the spot and took stock of the situation. He strongly condemned this incident and accused Trinamool of doing politics of violence. He also said that Trinamool workers are getting police protection, which has boosted their morale.
On behalf of BJP, a written complaint has been lodged in Asansol North police station in this matter, while BJP workers have surrounded the police station and started protesting, they are also demanding the arrest of the accused and have demanded the immediate arrest of the accused.
