Balurghat: Surjit Saha, the newly elected chairman of Balurghat Municipality, started walking on the road of development after taking responsibility. During an event organized by the Subhashbhag of Balur Ghat Municipal Council, he lifted the work order for the renovation and construction of 46 roads in the municipal area. According to the municipal sources, this work will be carried out under the dream project of the state government, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee Dhyay's 'Pathshree' or 'Rajashree'. It has been informed by the Municipal Corporation that through a total of seven work orders, 46 important roads spread across 25 wards of Balurghat Municipal Corporation will be renovated. A plan has been taken to repair and improve the roads whose condition had deteriorated over a long period of time. Municipal Council wants to come forward with the target of completing the work before the rainy season. While speaking at the function, Chairman Surjee Saha said, "Today we have placed the work order for the road work under the Pathashree Project, the dream project of Honorable Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Through seven work orders, 46 roads will be renovated in 250 wards." He further said that due to some administrative and practical problems, there has been some delay in starting the development work. But now their aim is to not waste any more time and move the work forward at a faster pace. As a result of this road renovation, the city's communication system will improve and the common people's travel will become easier, claims the council. Starting from businessmen to school-college students, everyone will be benefited. The residents of the city are seeing the work of this Pathashree project as the first major initiative of the Chairman. According to the news from Municipal Corporation, emphasis will also be laid on development of drainage, drinking water and lighting system in the coming days.
