Nirbhik Bangla, Asansol: West Bengal Minister Agnimitra Paul visited the Asansol Rifle Club on Sunday. There, she held a rifle in her hands for the first time in her life and received basic training in shooting. The instructors taught her the proper way to hold a rifle, target shooting, and various techniques for firing safely. After the training, Minister Agnimitra Paul said that she had always been very afraid of rifles. However, she felt deeply inspired after seeing the women members of Kolkata Police's Durga Squad serving the public with rifles in hand while riding motorcycles and scooters, or witnessing the female soldiers of the Indian Army protecting the country's borders. She said, "I want every girl in the country to become confident, fearless, and self-reliant. They should prove their competence in every sphere of life and bring glory to India both at home and abroad." The Minister further stated that women's empowerment is not limited to education or employment; self-defense, discipline, and confidence are equally important. She urged young women to participate more in sports and activities like shooting. On this day, the officials of the Rifle Club warmly welcomed the Minister and provided her with detailed insights into various aspects of shooting. In the presence of the club's trainers and members, the Minister shared her training experience and described it as highly inspiring.
