Asansol, West Bengal The political atmosphere in Asansol has heated up ahead of the proposed Bengal tour of AIMIM chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi. An incident of tearing of party banners and posters has come to light, regarding which AIMIM has expressed strong displeasure. According to the information, Owaisi will reach Durgapur late night on April 12 and will address public meetings in various districts of the state including Asansol on April 13, 14 and 15. In Asansol, their meetings are to be held at Idgah Ground in Murgasol, Balbodhan School Chandmari Ground and Istema Ground of ADDA. Meanwhile, AIMIM banners and posters put up in Alinagar of Ward No. 23 and Qureshi Mohalla of Ward No. 24 of Asansol North Assembly Constituency were allegedly torn down by anti-social elements. This incident has given rise to political controversy at the local level. AIMIM candidate Danish Aziz expressed grief and displeasure over this incident and said that his party is being continuously targeted. He alleged that posters of other parties are safe, while only AIMIM's campaign material is being damaged. Danish Aziz said, "Don't we have the right to contest elections? Don't we have the right to hold meetings? Even before this, our meetings were disrupted and there were protests during the election campaign." He also accused Trinamool Congress (TMC) workers of creating disruption in his meetings by raising “Jai Bangla” slogans. However, there has been no official response from TMC on these allegations yet. Danish Aziz made it clear that he is not afraid of these incidents and will fight the election till the end. He said that his aim is to work not only for his community but also for the people of the entire North Assembly constituency. At present, no clear statement has come from the local administration regarding the poster tearing incident. In an election environment, such incidents can increase tension in the area.
