Fearless Bengali, Asansol: Rotary Club of Asansol Greater has set a shining example of humanitarian initiative. In a three-day special training organized in a private hall at SB Garhai Road, Asansol, handicapped and specially abled people are being provided artificial limb replacement and wheelchair. Present on the second day of the event were former minister Moloy Ghatak, Asansol Municipal Council member Gurudas Chatterjee, club president Sachindra Nath Ray and other eminent guests. Former minister Mallya Ghatak said, many voluntary organizations are involved in social service work in Asansol city. Some organize blood donation camps, while other international organizations like Rotary Club stand by the poor and helpless people who have lost arms or legs due to various reasons and try to bring them back to normal life through artificial limb replacement. Rotary Club President Shri Chandra Nath Rai said, this training was held on 22nd, 23rd and 24th, artificial limbs are being made after taking measurements as per requirement and they are being replaced. Besides, two wheelbarrows have also been donated by the club. A total of 50 consumers are said to be provided with artificial limbs. There are smiles on the faces of the people benefited by this initiative, which has emerged as a unique example of social responsibility.
