সাফাই কর্মীদের কর্মবিরতিতে আসানসোল জুড়ে জঞ্জালের স্তূপ, পৌর নিগমে ফের বিক্ষোভ

Nirbheek Bengali, Samdas, Asansol: Due to the suspension of sanitation workers, almost all the areas under the Asansol Municipal Corporation have gathered under the debris of the jungle. Safai workers have joined the protest by stopping work for the last three to four days. Due to this, the drainage and sanitation system in Asansol industrial area has become practically non-functional.It is noteworthy that in every ward of Asansol Municipal Corporation, sanitation workers go door to door every day and collect garbage lying on the roadside. But by complaining about not getting their due rights, they went on the path of unemployment. On this day, sanitation workers protested by stopping work in front of Asansol Municipal Corporation building. According to their complaint, the concerned contractor organization did not deposit their Provident Fund (PF) for a long time. Apart from this, they also demanded to provide photo identity card to every worker and to pay minimum monthly salary of Rs 15 thousand as per government rules.Due to this movement, sanitation services have been severely disrupted throughout the Asansol industrial area. There is increasing anger among the common people due to lack of cleanliness in the city during important times like ongoing secondary examinations and Shabhu Barat. Amarnath Chattopadhyay, Chairman of Asansol Municipal Corporation, said that initiatives are being taken to solve the problem through dialogue and discussion. On the other hand, BJP leader Raja Mukhopa Dhyay alleged that the Trinamool government does not think about the poor people and the sanitation workers are being deprived of their rights. Meanwhile, Congress leader and resident of Asansol, Prasenjith Pundi said, it is very unfortunate that the city remains unclean during secondary examinations and religious functions. It is noteworthy that even today the sanitation workers continued protesting in Asansol Municipal Corporation.
