Nirbheek Bengali,Asansol: On Friday, 30th January, on the death anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Mohammad Mohd. Gandhi, Asansol city paid tribute to the statue of Gandhiji located in the Asansol court building. Asansol Municipal Council member Gurudas Chatterjee, councilor Baba Bita Das and other eminent persons were present in this felicitation ceremony. While speaking at the event, Gurudas Chatterjee said, on behalf of Asansol Municipal Corporation, the birth and death anniversaries of all the saints should be observed with due dignity and respect. He said, “The contribution of Mahatma Gandhi in achieving the independence of the country cannot be expressed in language.” Regarding the current political situation, he further said, today violent politics is turning away from non-violent ideals. Many have forgotten Gandhiji's ideals and words. Therefore, he appealed to people from all levels of society to follow Gandhiji's philosophy. Through this tribute ceremony, Mahatma Gandhi's ideals of non-violence, truth and humanity are remembered and a message is given to follow that path.
