Nirbheek Bengali,Asansol: Sanitation workers joined the intense protest by gheraoing the Asansol Municipal Corporation office from 6 am on Friday. Due to this, the daily activities of the Municipal Corporation practically came to a standstill. The protesting workers complain that their Provident Fund (PF) dues are not being deposited for a long time. They also demanded a monthly salary of Rs 15,000, permanent identity card and medical facilities under ISI. Sanitation workers claim that despite informing the administration about the problem several times, they were forced to join the protest as there was no solution. During the protest, workers raised slogans against the city administration. There is a fear that due to complete stoppage of sanitation work, the cleanliness system of the city may be affected. But till now no official response has been received from Asansol Municipal Corporation in this matter. In this regard, sanitation worker Mukesh Kumar said, the work will be stopped until all the demands are fulfilled. On the other hand, sanitation worker Ramu Hadi said that their four main demands are payment of PF dues, monthly salary of Rs 15,000, ISI facility and provision of identity card. If the demands are not met, the movement will become more vigorous, he said.
