Shyam Das, Asansol: In order to make the city cleaner, more beautiful, and more livable, a special initiative has been taken by the Asansol Municipal Corporation in accordance with the state government's directives. On Tuesday, September 1st, Asansol Municipal Corporation Commissioner and IAS officer Dilip Mishra announced in an important press conference that, as per the instructions of the state's Minister for Municipal Affairs and Urban Development, Agnimitra Paul, strict fines have been imposed across various municipal areas of the state for anti-social and unclean activities starting September 1st.
In this endeavor to beautify the city, the key issues under strict surveillance and subject to fines include—throwing garbage or waste haphazardly outside designated areas, urinating and spitting in open spaces, and obstructing public movement by leaving construction raw materials like sand, stone, and cement on roadsides. Financial penalties will be enforced against those who deface the city and harm the environment through such activities.
To raise awareness and warn the general public about these new rules and fines, a colorful awareness rally was led directly by Asansol Municipal Corporation Commissioner Dilip Mishra on September 1st. The rally traversed various important streets of the Asansol Bazar area. During the march, participating officials and workers distributed leaflets to all shopkeepers, businessmen, and pedestrians in the market while broadcasting messages via microphones to keep the city clean. The Municipal Commissioner expressed hope that this initiative by the corporation will receive a positive response from the business community and general citizens, making Asansol a much cleaner city.
