Asansol (West Bengal) — A government bus of SBST coming from Kolkata to Asansol suddenly caught fire in Raniganj area on Monday, causing chaos in the bus. The bus driver, showing wisdom and courage, immediately stopped the bus on the roadside and risked his life and safely evacuated more than 40 passengers on board the bus. As soon as information about the incident was received, the police and an engine of the fire department reached the spot. After a lot of effort, the fire brigade personnel brought the fire in the bus under control. However, there is no news of any casualty in this incident. Due to the fire in the bus, traffic on the main national highway from Kolkata to Delhi was disrupted for about two hours, resulting in long queues of vehicles. Police later normalized the traffic. The cause of the fire is being investigated.
