There was an uproar in the hospital premises on Saturday after the death of three-year-old girl Priyanka Mukherjee due to alleged medical negligence at Health World Hospital in Asansol. The girl's father Bijay Mukherjee, a resident of Siyar Sol, Raniganj, has made serious allegations against the doctors and staff of the hospital.
According to family members, Priyanka was complaining of fever and vomiting. He was admitted to Health World Hospital for treatment around 9:30 pm on Friday night. On reaching the hospital, the doctors and staff examined the girl and put her on oxygen.
The family alleges that the girl was repeatedly asking for water and was quite restless, but the staff did not give her water saying that she might vomit. The family says that the hospital staff told that blood test will be done on Saturday and treatment and medicine will be started only after the report comes. It is alleged that no medicine was given to the girl throughout the night.
According to family members, by morning the girl's condition became very serious and she died within some time. After this the family alleges that they were thrown out of the hospital and were not allowed inside.
As soon as the news of the incident spread, the girl's family and neighbors gathered outside the hospital and started demanding to show the body and complete details of the treatment and medicines given from night till morning. The family members have accused the doctors and staff of negligence and demanded legal action against the culprits.
The family also alleges that the police reached the spot to save the hospital staff and are providing security to the accused.
In this matter, BJP's state level leader Krishnandu Mukherjee said that more bouncers are seen than doctors in Health World Hospital. He alleged that some ruling party leaders have influence in the hospital and many wrongdoings take place under their supervision. He said that the party stands with the family of the deceased girl and will provide all possible help.
There is an atmosphere of tension in the area after the incident. The family members have demanded a fair investigation into the case and strict action against the culprits.
