' Fearless Bengali, Shyam Das, Asansol According to the new instructions of the state government, singing of 'Bande Matram' has started in prayer meetings in all the schools of the state from June 1st. Following that instruction, on Sunday morning, the national anthem ‘Bande Maatram’ was sung in the prayer meeting at Umarani Gadhai Mahila Kalyan School, Asansol. Under the leadership of school teacher-in-charge Papaiya Ghosh, other teachers along with the students participated in this song. Government instructions and song lessons were already sent to the schools through the School Inspector (DI) departments of various districts of the state. It is noteworthy that literary master Bankim Chandra Chhattopa Dhyay wrote the first two volumes of 'Bande Maatram' in the year 1875. Later, his famous novel Anandamath-e Gaanti, published in 1882, was included. In 1886, Rabindranath Tagore composed and performed this song for the first time at the session of the Indian National Congress in Kolkata. ‘Bande Matram’ played an important role in the Indian independence movement. The song has long been a part of the national consciousness as a symbol of respect and patriotism for the motherland. In 1950, the Constitution of India gave the status of national constitution to 'Bande Matram'. Also, in 1909, Shri Arambind translated the song into English, which later became widely popular. At different times, many artists and composers have composed the tune ‘Bande Mataram’. In 2002, an international survey by BBC World Service recognized 'Bande Maatram', composed by Hemant Mukhopa Dhyay, as the most popular song in the world. A part of Shiksha Mahal feels that as a result of this initiative of the state government in the new academic year, patriotism and national consciousness will be strengthened in the schools.
