Fearless Bengali, Asansol: On the occasion of Martyr's Day on March 23, Asansol Municipal Corporation paid tribute to the brave revolutionary Bhagat Singh. On this day, the British rulers hung Bhagat Singh on charges of treason, hence the day is celebrated as Martyr's Day throughout the country. On this day, former minister Moloy Ghatak, Municipal Council member Gurudas Chatterjee, Councilor Gurmeet Singh along with religious leaders of the Sikh community paid homage to his statue at Asansol's Bhagat Singh Morha. Before offering prayers, the members of the youth organization of Burnapur paid their respects to the martyr through Chuchkayoja. Due to patriotism this event gained special importance. Gurudas Chatterjee said, on behalf of Asansol Municipal Corporation, on the birth anniversaries and self-sacrifice days of various saints, respect is paid to their statues. His ideals and sacrifice are remembered by celebrating Martyr's Day as the day of self-sacrifice of Bhagat Singh on March 23. Through this program, besides showing respect to the martyrs, trying to convey the message of patriotism to the new generation.
