Asansol, DD (Detective Department) of Asansol-Durgapur Police Commissionerate of West Bengal, taking major action against illegal iron smuggling and stolen iron business, conducted a simultaneous raid operation in three police station areas late on Monday night. During this, a huge quantity of allegedly stolen iron was recovered and one accused was arrested. The police first raided a scrap warehouse in Nursing Dam-Kalali area of ​​Hirapur police station area of ​​Burnpur. From here the police recovered a huge quantity of iron which was said to have been stolen from the Iesco Steel Plant located in Burnpur. This junk godown is said to belong to local resident Sonu Saav. The police searched his warehouse as well as his house, from where it was claimed that iron stolen from the factory was recovered. Sonu Sao was arrested from the spot. During interrogation, on the behest of Sonu Sao, the team of DD department reached Kali Pahari area of ​​Asansol South police station area. During the search in another scrap warehouse located there, a huge quantity of allegedly stolen iron was recovered. Meanwhile, another team of DD department raided the rail crossing area of ​​Asansol North police station area. Here, a huge quantity of illegal iron was also recovered from the scrap warehouse said to be owned by Sajjad alias Chikna. However, no arrest has been confirmed in this raid. The police is engaged in a thorough investigation of the entire matter and is trying to find out who else are involved in this network of stolen iron and from which industrial units the recovered iron was stolen. Police believe that there may be more important revelations in the investigation.
