Shyam Das, Asansol: Ordinary women burst into intense anger as the long-pending dues under the Annapurna Yojana were not credited to their bank accounts for a long time. On Monday morning, over specific allegations of not receiving the Annapurna Yojana funds, women spontaneously blocked the road and staged a fierce protest in the bustling Barakar Station Road area under Kulti police station in West Bardhaman district. Due to this sudden road blockade, widespread commotion and tension spread across the area. With traffic stalled for a long time on one of the state's most important roads, daily commuters, school students, and general pedestrians alike suffered immense hardship. According to local sources, just two days prior, deprived women had taken to the streets in this same Barakar area to vent their anger over the exact same demand for pending money. The protesters claimed that their patience has broken as no solution was found despite repeatedly informing the administration. The promises made by various political parties and the bureaucratic procrastination in contrast to that have currently created a complex and uncomfortable situation across the state. As public dissatisfaction is growing around this highly people-oriented and ambitious project of the government and they are being forced to choose extreme paths like blocking the streets, questions have started to arise regarding the role of the administration. According to knowledgeable circles, if the concerned department does not immediately rectify this technical or administrative glitch and arrange for sending the money to the beneficiaries' accounts, this movement may take a larger and more intense form in the coming days. Observers are now looking towards swift action by the administration to pacify this accumulated anger of the common people.
