Asansol, West Burdwan West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee addressed a huge public meeting held at ADDA ground in Asansol. During this, he appealed to the public to vote in support of the 9 assembly candidates present on the stage and fiercely attacked the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). In her speech, Mamata Banerjee appealed to BJP to "bid farewell" from the state, saying that if BJP remains in power, people will be harassed by showing fear of ED and CBI. He alleged that BJP, in collaboration with the Election Commission, has removed the names of about 90 lakh voters from the voter list in the state, including 60 lakh Hindus and 30 lakh Muslims, through the SIR (Special Intensive Revision) process. Mamta claimed that she approached the Supreme Court regarding this issue, after which the names of more than 30 lakh people have been re-added to the voter list. He assured that no voter's name will be allowed to be deleted. During the meeting, Mamata Banerjee gave the message of unity and respect towards different religions and made many religious proclamations including “La Ilaha Illallah”, “Chhath Maiya Ki Jai”, “Wahe Guru Di Khalsa”, “Jai Johar” and expressed love and harmony towards all communities. Also expressed gratitude to West Burdwan District Trinamool leadership. Taking aim at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Mamata Banerjee described him as a “liar”. He said that BJP brings people by paying money to gather crowd in rallies, while Trinamool conducts processions on foot. He accused the Central Government of not fulfilling the promises made to women and said that the promise of providing financial assistance every month to women in Delhi has not been fulfilled yet. Mamata Banerjee also said that BJP talks about “Sonar Bangla” but has not done any concrete work for the state. He raised the question that if BJP really wants development, then why are the alleged atrocities against the people of Bengal in other states. He alleged that BJP does politics of dividing the society and works to remove names of voters during elections. At the end of her address, Mamata Banerjee said, “After the Bengal elections, we will go to Delhi,” and claimed that she is ready to bring change in the politics at the Center as well.
