In a major success against illegally stored coal, a joint force conducted an operation in the Kharambandh area under Hirapur police station in Asansol. Acting on a specific tip-off received from a reliable source regarding the illegal business running for a long time, the CISF's Shitalpur team, local CISF jawans, and ECL security guards jointly launched a sudden raid. In this successful operation, approximately 20 to 25 tons of illegal coal were seized from the spot. However, sensing the arrival of the joint forces beforehand, the cunning smugglers fled taking advantage of the darkness. As a result, no one could be immediately detained or arrested during the operation.
Preliminary investigations have revealed sensational information. Investigators suspect that an organized syndicate has been running this illegal coal business in this specific area for a long time. The estimated market value of this huge quantity of seized coal is quite high. Investigators are now deeply examining from which illegal mines or sources this massive quantity of coal was collected and where and through what illegal means it was planned to be smuggled.
