Fearless Bengali, Ramgarh: A container driver lost his life in a terrible road accident late Sunday night in Chuttupalu Upatyaya of Ramgarh district. National Highway 33-E (Ranchi-Patna main road) collides head-on with a truck carrying a container. Due to the intensity of the collision the container simultaneously catches fire. The driver got trapped inside the cabin and the fire spread rapidly and he was burnt alive, according to the initial estimate of the police. On receiving the news, the local police and Ramgarh police station incharge Nabeen Prakash Pandey reached the spot with two fire engines. After a long effort the fire was brought under control. After the fire is extinguished, a partially burnt body is recovered from inside the cabin, which is suspected to be that of the container driver. Efforts are underway to establish the identity of the deceased and efforts have been made to contact the family. The accident causes long traffic jams on the national highway. Traffic on the Ranchi-Patna route was completely disrupted. Later the police opened a lane and started removing the accident vehicle with the help of two cranes. Local residents complain that frequent accidents occur in Chuttupalu Upatyakaya. They claim, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has failed to take adequate safety measures. Complaints were raised that the rural road design and safety management were flawed. Residents' question, "Will action be taken every time there is loss of life? NHAI should take responsibility and find a permanent solution."
